"Dark" Tutorial, post your version!

Postby CoolSurface on Mon Jan 05, 2009 4:07 pm

If you've picked up your copy of Advanced Photoshop Magazine this month you'll find our "Dark" tutorial on creating depth in a 2D image. We've created several Photoshop tutorials over the past few years, and we always like to see what other artists' versions of our artwork turn out like. So if you've had a go at the "Dark" tutorial and wish to share your work, please post it here so we can take a look! We'll be keeping a close eye, and are always happy to offer feedback.

And for those of you who haven't got your copy of the mag yet, here are the lines so you can still have a go.

This is our version, now let's see yours!

We look forward to seeing what everyone has created :D

Hi Angel,
sorry for not replying to this sooner, work has been pretty busy. It's a nice effort you've made yhere. It's easy to see that you studied the tutorial well, and adapted things to your own tastes as well, which is what I think you should get from a tutorial. I like what you've done with her jumper, it looks a little warmer than what we had her in! ;) Your understanding of the light sources seems pretty good too. I like how you've added some new smoke, that was good thinking. If I were to offer a small crit I'd suggest reducing the opacity of the smoke on the left to make it less white. The smoke in the middle is great as its linked to 2 main focal points, but the one on the left is drawing attention off to the side a bit. Other than that, great job! :)
